The Ability to Work in Multi-disciplinary teams

Equal access to justice for children with disabilities demands seamless support from all relevant professionals. The ability of those professionals to work together successfully is therefore a critically important skill. It demands:

  • Mutual appreciation of and respect for one another’s roles
  • Effective communication and information sharing
  • Joint planning and coordination

SAPI and other Bulgarian NGOs, such as the Program for the Development of the Judicial System, subsequently developed multi-disciplinary training aimed at local magistrates, social workers, policemen, prosecutors and other relevant professionals to facilitate more child friendly practices in the court system, including the “blue rooms” model

The Mosaic approach considers children to be ‘experts in their own lives’ and enables children’s perspectives to be obtained through talking, walking, making and reviewing together.’
