Budapest, 24 October. This week the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women reviewed Moldova’s compliance with global women’s rights. It called on women with disabilities to be protected from abuse, highlighting sexual assault in residential institutions, involuntary treatment, and forced sterilisation.

3 October 2013. The UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women has expressed concerns about the abuse of women in psychiatric hospitals in Moldova. The concerns were raised with representatives of the Moldovan government as the Committee reviewed the country’s most recent reports under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
30 September 2013, Budapest. Today, for the second time, the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee) told the Hungarian government to stop disenfranchising people with intellectual disabilities.
