Preventing separation in Czech Republic
Helping David live in the community
We’ve been helping 22-year old David, who has autism and an intellectual disability from the Czech Republic. In July we won a strategic case in a regional court, the first time in that country that a person with a disability has successfully sued a local authority for failing to provide support they need to live at home.
In international law we talk of the “right to live in the community”, and our strategic litigation has helped David to make this real. We now need to make sure the Czech government rolls out this right to every person with a disability who needs support, to prevent them being sent to an institution - in some cases, for the rest of their lives.
People like you have supported us with financial gifts large and small this year. Now, at Christmas time, there’s no better time to give.
Help us transform lives and laws next year, by giving today.
