Mat Kinton
Mat has worked for the psychiatric monitoring body for England for seventeen years, and is the senior policy analyst of that body (now called the Care Quality Commission). Over the last decade he has authored five biennial national monitoring reports to the UK parliament on psychiatric detention in England and Wales.
Alongside undertaking monitoring visits and providing training in the UK, Mat has undertaken monitoring visits in Croatia, trained monitors in Kosovo, and given presentations on the principles and practice of monitoring to representatives of the Romanian and Chinese Governments, and to international meetings of psychiatric monitoring bodies. He holds an MA in Art and Psychotherapy from the Department of Psychiatry, Sheffield University.
